The First Trailer for YouTube Premium’s Weird City is Here

Anthology series are slowly taking over the creative space. With shows such as American Crime, American Horror Story, Black Mirror, and Fargo all gaining critical acclaim, it seems to be a recipe for success. Jordan Peele is currently filming a reboot of one of the best anthology series of all time, The Twilight Zone. While we wait for that, he has developed a new show for us to enjoy in the interim.

Weird City is a satirical anthology set in the not-too-distant future metropolis of Weird. In this dystopian setting, the middle class has completely vanished, dividing Weird City into two sections: Above the Line (The Haves) and Below the Line (The Have Nots). Presiding over the denizens of the city is the strange and mysterious Dr. Negari, who weaves all of our stories together. Each episode is a topic that pertains to present day life in America and the world: social media addiction, online dating, fitness obsession, etc.. Weird City captures the unease of modern urban living, in a bizarre and peculiar lens.

The cast is packed with stars including Michael Cera, LeVar Burton, Laverne Cox, Steven Yeun, Rosario Dawson, and Awkwafina. Most notably, former Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien will be making his big return to YouTube. His career took off after posting funny videos on his YouTube channel, so this series serves as a homecoming.

Weird City premieres February 13th on YouTube Premium. Check out the first trailer below!
