New ‘Good Trouble’ trailer highlights Callie and Mariana’s transition into adulthood

GOOD TROUBLE - "DTLA" - After moving to The Coterie in Downtown Los Angeles, Callie and Mariana realize that living on their own is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Faced with new neighbors, new challenges, and of course, new romances, the sisters must depend on one another to navigate the City of Angels. (Freeform/Beth Dubber) MAIA MITCHELL, CIERRA RAMIREZ

Fans of The Fosters won’t have to wait much longer to see how Callie and Mariana handle life in L.A. as they begin a brand new adventure on the spin-off Good Trouble.

The spin-off follows sisters Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana Adams Foster (Cierra Ramirez) as they move from San Diego to Los Angeles to write the next chapter of their lives as they journey into adulthood.

Freeform released a new trailer showing Mariana feeling like an outsider at her new job as a software engineer at a tech startup, despite graduating from M.I.T. While Callie is having a hard time as a progressive law clerk while dealing with a conservative judge (Roger Bart).

If their jobs weren’t enough, the girls also struggle in their social lives as well. Callie comments she has to be careful who she is seen partying with when she and Mariana go out for drinks and the two are living in an apartment with a rather attractive neighbor named Gael (Riverdale‘s Tommy Martinez) who gets both their attention. Mariana immediately says she wants to ‘smash him’ but a preview shows Callie is the one who hooks up with him, despite telling her sister she never wants a guy to come between them.

I have a feeling we’re going to get some major drama between the two sisters.

If the preview is any indication, Good Trouble is going be a grown up, sexier, and far more adult version of The Fosters and we’re likely to see the girls getting into deeper trouble. Fans better get ready.

There is some good news ahead of its debut. Deadline is reporting that Good Trouble, produced by Jennifer Lopez, has strong support from Freeform’s higher-ups and received a tax incentive for a future season which virtually guarantees it’ll be renewed for season 2.
