Chevel Shepherd wins Season 15 of ‘The Voice’ in finale shocker

Chevel Shepherd has been crowned the winner of Season 15 of The Voice in a shocking end to a controversial season.

The finale saw even more performances from the final four and stars alike. Team J-Hud’s Kennedy Holmes kicked the show off by performing a duet with Kelly Rowland while Kirk Jay from Team Blake sang with Rascal Flatts. Later on, Shepherd sang with Dan + Shay while Team Blake’s Chris Kroeze sang with The Doobie Brothers.

Following even more performances and other pointless filler, host Carson Daly finally delivered the big result in the last 10 minutes of the two hour show.

In a shocking result, Shepherd defeated Kroeze, who was named the runner-up. The results had fans and television critics alike scratching their heads as everyone figured Kirk and Kennedy, who came in third and fourth places respectively, would have been the top two.

The win for Chevel is also a win for coach Kelly Clarkson, who has now won back-to-back seasons. She won in Season 14 with Brynn Cartelli.

Season 15 was one of the most controversial ones in the history of The Voice. Why? For starters, fans never warmed to the idea of the Comeback Stage twist, which saw Lynnea Moorer be added to the live show rounds despite not making it past the blind audition. She took the place of someone else who went through the entire process fairly.

Then there was Adam Levine, who basically threw DeAndre Nico under the bus as he urged voters to vote for his other contestant Reagan Strange instead.

The Voice returns on February 25 for Season 16 with John Legend replacing Hudson as a coach, joining Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton.
