We have so much TV to look forward to in the new year! There is something for everyone. Maybe you’ve gotten bored of the television shows you’re currently watching or just want to check out something different. Streaming services are really bringing the heat and have stepped up their game in offering new content for us to binge. However, cable and broadcast networks have a few gems too. Check out our list of 19 new shows premiering in 2019 that we’re looking forward to (in alphabetical order).
Black Monday – Showtime, January 20 at 10 pm ET
Boomerang – BET, February 2019
Tequan Richmond and Tetona Jackson star in a continuation of the 1992 movie which starred Halle Berry and Eddie Murphy. The new, 10-episode, half-hour series follows the grown children of the film’s characters and is executive produced by Berry and Lena Waithe.
Catch-22 – Hulu, Spring 2019
Based on Joseph Heller’s classic 1961 novel Catch-22, the WWII-set limited series stars George Clooney in his first series regular role since E.R. Clooney also directs and executive produces the buzzworthy event which also includes heavyweights Hugh Laurie and Kyle Chandler.
Central Park Five – Netflix, TBD 2019
The inimitable Ava DuVernay created, wrote and directed this series about five Harlem teens who were unjustly convicted in the media and courts for the rape of a NYC jogger in 1989 before finally being cleared in 2014.
David Makes Man – OWN, 2019
David Makes Man, from and inspired by Oscar-winning Moonlight co-writer Tarell Alvin McCraney, centers on a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by his friend’s death and pressured by his mom to free them out of poverty.

Fosse/Vernon – FX, 2019
Based on Fosse, the biography written by Sam Wasson, the eight-part limited series explores both the romantic and creative relationship between famed choreographer Fosse and stage actress Gwen Verdon.

Les Misérables – PBS, April 14
Lovecraft Country – HBO, 2019
Executive produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkey Paw Productions and based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel, the hour-long drama follows Atticus Black as he searches for his missing father on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America while facing racist terrors and Lovecraftian monsters.

Modern Love – Amazon, 2019
Based on the NYT column of the same name, this eight-episode, half-hour romcom anthology looks at love in all its many forms.
Shrill – Hulu, March 15
Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant stars in this six-episode comedy series based on blogger Lindy West’s memoir Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman. Bryant portrays Annie, a plus-size woman who wants to change her life but not her body, as she deals with work, boyfriends, ill parents and a world that tells her she’s not good enough because of her size.
The Mandalorian – Disney Plus, 2019
The Twilight Zone – CBS All Access, 2019
Top of the Morning – Apple, Summer 2019
Apple’s first scripted series is based on Brian Stelter’s book of the same name and stars former Friends sisters, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The show, which has already received a 20-episode, two season order, gives viewers an inside look at the messy drama behind your favorite network morning shows.
Watchmen – HBO, 2019
Lost‘s Damon Lindelof reimagines Alan Moore’s alternate history DC graphic novel about masked vigilantes but bumps the outlaw heroes to present day.
