Siren takes Over NYCC 2018

Freeform’s presence at conventions has become somewhat of a staple for the past few years. This year’s New York Comic Con was no different. Bringing news about their hit show Siren to a room of excited fans was a great kickoff to 2018’s NYCC.

Stars Eline Powell (Ryn), Alex Roe (Ben), Fola Evans-Akingbola (Maddie) and executive producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald took the stage to tease the upcoming sophomore season.

Season one of the show introduced us to the town of Bristol Cove, which is well known for its legend of once being a home to mermaids. The town is shaken up when a mysterious young woman, Ryn (Eline Powell), appears and begins wreaking havoc upon the small fishing community to look for her captured sister. Marine biologists Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) work together to find out who she is and what drove this primal hunter of the deep sea to land. And of course, the show isn’t lacking in love triangles and the other drama Freeform shows always deliver.

The second season, which is set to premiere on Thursday, January 24th, is going to tackle some new issues. Building on the foundation of an epic first season, season two promises the appearance of more mermaids in the coastal town. Ben and Maddie will continue to establish a bond with mermaid Ryn, not only to protect her but to try to help save her entire civilization.

But enough of me writing about it! You can check out the season 2 trailer right here!
