The American Music Awards are back for their 45th year of performances and awards for the biggest stars of today. Bruno Mars leads the pack with 8 well-deserved nominations, but you may notice something is missing.
Some of the categories, including the highly coveted “Artist of the Year” and “Video of the Year,” are completely devoid of female nominees. Yes, you read that correctly. Out of five nominees, not one was a woman. At the end of last year, and the beginning of this year, we saw great chart topping albums from Lady Gaga, Little Mix, and Kehlani just to name a few. Even though some of these great female artists were snubbed at the AMAs, I have hope that the 60th Grammy nominations (November 28th) will give them the recognition they deserve.
The “2017 American Music Awards” will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 8:00pm ET on ABC. The full list of nominations is below.
