Exclusive Interview with Actress Ava Kolker
From her guest-starring role as Ava Morgenstern on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, Ava Kolker has catapualted into the spotlight at only ten years old. Ava stars as young Elise Rainier in the upcoming movie Insidious: The Last Key. I got to talk to her about her experience in the industry thus far and a got to know a little bit about her upcoming projects.
How did you get started in the entertainment business?
I got into it when I was four years old. I was introduced to a talent manager by chance. He asked me to take head shots and would start submitting me for auditions. I booked my second audition on the first season of American Horror Story, then a movie as the daughter of Kate Beckinsale. The rest is history!
What was your experience on Girl Meets World like?
It was a life-changing experience and an amazing opportunity to learn from the best actors and Michael Jacobs and the rest of the writers and crew. It was a very non-judgmental environment that helped me grow and thrive as an actor.
What was your reaction when you booked your role in Insidious: The Last Key?
I screamed at the top of my lungs when my family told me. It was a very challenging role, so I gave it all I had in the audition, and casting told me that I made them feel emotions, so I was hopeful, but beyond excited when I found out I was the choice.
Can you tell us a little bit about your character?
I play young Elise Rainier, so this fourth film in the franchise comes back full circle to describe Elise’s childhood.
How is Insidious: The Last Key different from other projects you’ve worked on?
It was by far the most intense, and hardest role than any of my previous roles, so it really pushed me to another level I think.
What is your favorite part about being an actress?
I love being able to make people feel emotions, whether it’s laugh, cry, be scared or anything else the role calls for.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I have three sisters, and I am double jointed. I have also done eight plays in musical theatre.
Do you have any upcoming projects you can tell us about?
Other than Insidious: The Last Key, I also play the Fairy Aeloo in The Fairy’s game coming out on Amazon, and I am the voice of a wooden bear on Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs. As far as TV goes, I will be appearing on White Famous, and a secret project I can’t talk about yet, but I am super excited about it, so stay tuned!
