Sony is Bringing ‘Silver Sable and Black Cat’ to the Big Screen

Shortly after the Tom Hardy Venom casting announcement, Sony stated that they are bringing another Spider-Man spin-off to the big screen. Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, The Secret Life of Bees) has been chosen to direct Silver Sable and Black Cat. Gina is no stranger to Marvel properties, having just directed the pilot for Freeform’s upcoming television series Cloak & Dagger, which will be released in 2018.

Silver Sable, a mercenary from the small European state of Symkaria, hunts down war criminals. She is occasionally seen as an ally of Spider-Man, when she’s not carrying out CEO duties at Silver Sable International or being the leader of Wild Pack, a team of mercenaries.

Black Cat, or Felicia Hardy, is the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar. Even though this character was introduced in Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there is no word yet if Felicity Jones will reprise her role in the new spin-off.

Since Venom will be coming to theaters in late 2018, it’s safe to say we can look for Silver Sable and Black Cat to arrive in theaters early 2019.
