Lifetime Greenlights “The Lost Wife Of Robert Durst”

Lifetime has given the green light to original movie “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst”.

Based on the book “A Deadly Secret: The Strange Disappearance of Kathie Durst” by Matt Birkbeck, the film will star Katharine McPhee (Scorpion) as Kathie Durst and Daniel Gillies (The Originals) as Robert Durst. Filming will begin this month in Vancouver with Lincoln Square Productions’ Linda Berman (Madoff) and Rudy Bednar (Final Witness) executive producing and Emmy Award winner Yves Simoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) directing. The script was written by Emmy nominee Bettina Gilois (Bessie).

Robert Durst’s story captured the year’s headlines with his recent arrest and the controversy surrounding the documentary, “The Jinx”. However, Lifetime is choosing to put the forgotten woman Kathie (McPhee) at the center of the story in “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst”. Young and wide-eyed, Kathie falls in love with charming, yet quirky real estate scion Robert Durst (Gillies), only to find their marriage turning stranger, darker and more disturbing as time passes. When Kathie disappears in 1982, her family and friends are angry and don’t understand why her disappearance isn’t being taken seriously by police.

Robert Durst is currently in jail awaiting trial for the murder of his close friend, journalist Susan Berman, and the questions about what really happened to Kathie continue to linger and plague her loved ones. Lifetime’s production of “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst” will pull back the curtain on the world of Robert Durst and will explore what may have happened between him and Kathie.

We’ll keep you updated on the progress of this project and let you know when the film is set to air so that you can see for yourself what happened to “The Lost Wife of Robert Durst”.
