HBO Documentary “Rock and A Hard Place” Debuts March 27

HBO has confirmed that the documentary “Rock and A Hard Place” will debut Monday, March 27th at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

The HBO Documentary film takes a look at incarcerated young people who are given a second chance: the opportunity to trade an extensive prison sentences for a new beginning by completing the famed Miami-Dade County Corrections & Rehabilitation Boot Camp. The camp is a one-of-a-kind, six-month program in which drill sergeants push inmates to their limit, encouraging them to learn from past mistakes and become constructive members of society who are substantially less likely to return to prison. Dwayne Johnson, whose personal experiences with the law as a youth inspired the special, appears in the documentary.

Dwayne Johnson was allegedly arrested ”eight or nine times” by the time he was 17 after being involved in a theft ring. The “Moana” star supposedly dealt with a tough upbringing in Hawaii during his teenage years and after getting evicted from his apartment at 14, he turned to crime and was rumored to have been part of a group who would target tourists. He eventually turned to body building and credits it for turning his life around.

Johnson serves as an executive producer of “Rock and A Hard Place” alongside his Seven Bucks Productions co-founder, Dany Garcia and Rasha Drachkovitch, co-founder and CEO of 44 Blue Productions. Directed and produced by Jon Alpert and Matthew O’Neill.
