New Album Announcement and Single Release from The Maine

Arizona-based indie-pop/alternative band, The Maine, had big news for fans today. After allowing us to watch them create their sixth full-length album through their YouTube series, Miserable Youth, and a week of cryptic teaser videos, they’ve announced that the album, Lovely Little Lonely, will be dropping on April 7th. The album drop date was accompanied by the single release of “Bad Behavior”.

“Bad Behavior” is a showcase of one of the band’s biggest strengths: honest to God fun songs (with a saucy tale about a girl you can’t seem to stay away from). It’s a perfect intro song for old fans and new. For old fans, it’s certainly something familiar and comfortable, though I’ve got a feeling this album is going to be a bit different than the others. For new fans, it’s a song you can’t help but shimmy to a little and the lyrics are catchy and clever, aptly called “poetic pop”. It’s a single that surely passed the bands “jump test” (Re: Miserable Youth episode #002).

Other than the obvious positive notes, the song sounds incredibly solid and cohesive, something that’s been growing with the band. Each instrument fits right where it needs to and if there’s a note out of place, it was meant to be. Everything from the guitar to the vocals fits together perfectly but not neatly. The dips, pauses, and upticks on “Bad Behavior” are executed seamlessly and the overlap of vocals on the bridge are beautifully jumbled yet not out of place.

Not only do we have a new single and a new album coming in April but the boys are back with a worldwide tour this spring as well! Keep an eye out for ticket announcements for a show date near you. For the North American dates, The Mowgli’s and Beach Weather will be featured as supporting acts.
