TNWU Weekly Superlatives (November 6th-12th)
In a week where politics overtook nearly everything, TV breaks were a much-needed escape. Gone were the constant nerves and worry about who would win, and we lost ourselves in our favorite fictional worlds. Although, it could be argued that sometimes our favorite fictional worlds are just as stressful as reality.
TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:
Best One-Liner: Supernatural
“I killed Hitler!” – Dean Winchester
This one line is repeated over and over by Dean after he actually does kill Hitler. His excitement over this fact is contagious, and you can see bits of young Dean shine through erasing all the angst that bearing the Mark of Cain caused him. (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)
Best Dressed: Pitch
The San Diego Padres
Ginny’s about to be in serious trouble when her nude selfies are leaked. In order to keep the damage to a minimum, she and her teammates bare all for a photo shoot. So I guess technically they’re the best UN-dressed! (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)
Most Emotional Scene: NCIS: Los Angeles
Deeks re-proposes to Kensi (again)
While Kensi is recovering and doing physical therapy, Deeks asks her how much she remembers from her coma. Kensi replies that she doesn’t know…she doesn’t know what was real and what was a dream. So, again while on one knee, Deeks asks Kensi to marry him (with the ring he’s been carrying in his pocket for FOREVER).
Kensi refuses to let him go through with it. Stating it’s not fair to him when she has one leg that doesn’t work and another that does but has no feeling to it. Deeks asks her to hang onto the ring because he’s convinced he’ll lose it and reiterates how much he loves her and doesn’t care about her injury. Sadly, Kensi still doesn’t say ‘YES.’ When will these two become engaged for REAL? It looks like us Densi shippers will have to endure a few more tears and a longer wait than we were anticipating.
Honorable Mention: Meredith telling Zola and Bailey that Derek (Daddy) was dead (Grey’s Anatomy)
Most Heartwarming Moment: Once Upon a Time
Hook and Emma
The vault scene made me cry so hard. Not tragic tears, but heart-warming kind of tears. Hook proved to be the voice Emma needed in the moment. It all started with him reading her the story of her parents falling in love. Then he reminded her that she can beat her fate and everything else because she’s the product of true love and she’s stronger than she knows. While Emma didn’t say much, you can see on her face how much Hook’s speech meant to her. This scene made my top 3 favorite Captain Swan moments.
Most Shocking: American Horror Story: Roanoke
the entire episode
First, Taissa Farmiga finally made an appearance, and she was beyond amazing. Second, Taissa Farmiga’s character died (that didn’t last long). Third, we all thought that Audrey Tindall “died, ” but she lived, only to die at the end of the episode. Fourth, Lee went kind of crazy (possessed?) and killed everyone. It was an eventful, crazy, shocking episode.
Most Suspenseful: The Walking Dead
Daryl Gets caught trying to escape
After spending days locked in a small closet, listening to a continuous loop of “Easy Street,” and eating dog food sandwiches, Daryl finally had enough and made a break for it. He didn’t get too far, though, and every fan out there was on the edge of their seat when Negan walked out with Lucille. Thank goodness the vampire bat wasn’t thirsty.
Performer of the Week: The Walking Dead
Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon
It was a Daryl-centric episode, nd we were rewarded with a rare crying scene. I too cried, especially at the end when he refused to bow to Negan’s rule. “I’m Daryl.” So are we. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)
Honorable Mention: American Horror Story: Roanoke (Adina Porter as Lee Harris)
