Sum 41 “Don’t Call It Sum Back Tour” In Review
Sunday night, the Masquerade was filled with excited fans, ready to take a trip back into the past to see Sum 41. Those who missed them on Warped Tour this year had not seen Sum 41 in action since 2012 when they embarked on their “Does This Look Infected” 10th Anniversary tour.
The doors opened, and the venue filled as As It Is started the concert. They were the perfect opening band for those in the crowd who enjoyed a little more pop in their punk. Senses Fail followed as the room filled up entirely. The crowd grew in anticipation as many had not seen Deryck Whibley since the early 2000’s when he had bright red hair.
As Senses Fail’s set came to an end, the roar of the crowd grew as they waited for Sum 41 to get all set up for their show. The wait was well worth it when the lights came on, and Sum 41 came running out playing The Hell Song. The crowd was instantly taken back to their teens where they first heard the song on their Discman.
As many of know, The Hell song was the first song off of their 02′ Album “Does This Look Infected,” so it was perfect that it was followed by Over My Head (Better Off Dead).
With Skipping My Direction, Sum41 brought us back to 2016 and started playing some tracks from their new album, 13 Voices. The album had been released just a few days before the show (October 7th) and many audience members took this as an opportunity to begin an adventurous evening of crowd surfing.
