Jordan Fisher Joins Disney’s Moana

Jordan Fisher is getting carried ‘away, away’ to the seas. The star announced today that he will be singing on the soundtrack of Disney’s latest animated movie Moana. As if that weren’t exciting enough, he revealed that it will be a duet with one of the film’s founding fathers: Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The song, titled “You’re Welcome” will first be sung by Dwayne Johnson in the film. Johnson plays Maui, a demigod (also a shapeshifter, and hero of men) who Moana enlists to help her on her adventure. Disney released a sneak peek of the song via Twitter on Monday morning.

It was also announced earlier this week that Fisher will make his Broadway debut on November 22 in the smash-hit Hamilton. This prompted an adorable exchange between him and the show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda. The bromance continued following Fisher’s announcement. Miranda, known to Jordan Fisher as “my boy,” said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to include him on the soundtrack.
This is a #MoanaMonday for the ages!
Y’all ain’t ready for@Jordan_Fisher‘s version! I HAD to jump on it. https://t.co/tsM7PrwpYw— Lin-Manuel Miranda (@Lin_Manuel) October 24, 2016
Disney’s Moana marks the debut of their first Polynesian princess, telling the story of “a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master Wayfinder and fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest.” The movie hits theaters on November 23, 2016.
