Halestorm: Live from Kalamazoo via Live Nation Live Streaming!

Halestorm performed last night in Kalamazoo, MI, and through the magic of live streaming via Live Nation, fans worldwide were able to enjoy the excitement. It takes a special kind of band to generate the energy and passion of a rock show needed to pull home viewers in, but Halestorm was more than up to the task.
Fronted by Lzzy Hale, who has one of the best voices in rock and roll today, the band delivered all of their hits, such as I Get Off, I Miss the Misery, Freak Like Me, Rock Show, Mayhem and Amen. Lzzy growls, belts, grinds and rocks with the best of any male metal performer, and her vocal style and passion are reminiscent of the late Janis Joplin. There is still somewhat of a glass ceiling in the heavy metal industry, but Lzzy is set to shatter it.
In addition to singing, Lzzy played a range of guitars, including a double-necked six and twelve string. In a very moving moment, Lzzy played piano and sang Dear Daughter. The energy never stopped, though – soon she was dancing and engaging the audience in fist-pumping sing-alongs.
Another highlight of the show was Lzzy’s brother Arejay on the drums. He’s incredibly athletic in his movements, twirling drumsticks and standing on his drum throne. He did an incredible drum solo in the middle of the show, strapping on a set of drums and going right to the front of the stage to the delight of fans down in front. He was joined later on the drum kit, a garbage can, and another percussion set in one of the most unique sounding performances I’ve heard in years.
The audience in Kalamazoo ate it all up, and so did I. I felt I was right there in the crowd, and Lzzy played to the live streaming cameras multiple times. I’ve been a fan since 2009 when I Get Off was released, and saw them live that year. They were incredible then, and have only gotten better over the years.
Halestorm is currently around the world, getting ready to travel to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
