Romantic Comedy “The 10th Date” Begins Production in Los Angeles

On September 7th, Lifetime began production on their new original movie The 10th Date, a two-hour long romantic comedy which follows four friends at different life stages in their search for love. Produced by Academy-Award winning producer Wendy Finerman and written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, this project stars some of the most talented people in the entertainment business, including Meagan Good (Think Like a Man Too), Grammy-award winner Kelly Rowland (Empire), Grammy nominee Keri Hilson (So You Think You Can Dance), Kellee Stewart (The Soul Man), Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman (UnREAL), Emmy nominee Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance) and Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder).
Filming will take place through mid-October in Los Angeles and the film itself will be premiering in 2017 on Lifetime. A synopsis for the film reads as follows:
The 10th Datefollows friends Gabby (Good), Nell (Stewart), Billie (Hilson) and Margot (Rowland) who balance their dating adventures alongside their career ambitions at an upscale website in Los Angeles, under the watchful eye of their editor, Maureen (Deeley). Inspired by the site’s relationship advice column to find “the one,” Gabby and Nell embark on their own journeys towards the elusive “10th date, “the Holy Grail in the dating world when women believe men are finally committed. Meanwhile, Billie finds herself at a major crossroads in her marriage and Margot unsuccessfully tries to fight her growing attraction to a famously controversial reggae musician she is assigned to interview. As the ladies navigate the ups and downs of modern dating, romance, exes and friendships, they learn what they really want out of life and love. Jackson stars as Dante, a creative director at the site and Bowyer-Chapman is Freddy, Nell’s bisexual boyfriend.
Executive producers on the project are Wendy Finerman (Forest Gump, The Devil Wears Prada), Lisa Zupan (Drumline: A New Beat) and Nzingha Stewart (With This Ring). Stewart also wrote and will direct this film, which is being produced by SilverScreen Pictures Inc. for Lifetime.
