“Sister Cities” Starring Jacki Weaver, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amy Smart and Others to Premiere September 17th

Based on the internationally-acclaimed stage play of Colette Freedman, Sister Cities will make its television world premiere on Saturday, September 17th at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Lifetime. Featuring an all-star cast, including Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Jacki Weaver, Stana Katic, Jess Weixler, Michelle Trachtenberg and Troian Bellisario, the film adaptation, which is also written by Colette Freedman, will tell the story of four sisters who reunite to mourn after their mother’s passing, only to discover a secret that could tear them apart. The film also stars Amy Smart, Tom Everett, Emmy nominee Alfred Molina and Kaia Gerber in her acting debut.

The official film synopsis reads as follows:

Mary Baxter (Weaver and Smart, at different ages) led an enviable life, traveling the world as a young dancer. She was bless with four daughters from four different fathers, each as unique as the city that they are named after: Carolina (Katic), Austin (Weixler), Dallas (Trachtenberg) and Baltimore (Bellisario). After Mary’s death, her daughters reunite in their New England family home to mourn. As the local police investigate the circumstances behind Mary’s death, old animosities among the sisters resurface and a dark secret threatens to tear the family apart. Faced with a horrifying truth, the estranged sisters must choose to either turn their backs on the only family they have ever known or risk everything to protect one another.

Undoubtedly, this film is destined to be an instant, compelling classic, especially considering its stellar, sold-out debut at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival. Independently produced by Cannonball Productions, Sister Cities is directed by Sean Hanish, produced by Sean Hanish, Paul Jaconi-Biery and Eleanore Dailly, and executive produced by Kelly Kahl and Alfred Molina.
