Lifetime TV Premieres “Girl in the Box” on September 10th

Saturday, September 10 at 8pm ET/PT, Lifetime will premiere its production of the dark, disturbing psychological drama, Girl in the Box. The film is based on the true story of Colleen Stan, a young woman kidnapped and held as a sex slave for over half a decade.  Girl in the Box stars Addison Timlin (The Awkward Moment, Californication, Zero Hour), Zane Holtz (The Perks of Being a Wall Flower) and Zelda Williams (Dead of Summer).

The heartbreaking story begins in 1977, when 22-year-old Colleen Stan (Timlin) doesn’t think twice when she hitchhikes to a party and is picked up by a young couple, Cameron (Holtz) and Janice Hooker (Williams). But the life she knows is completely ripped away when the couple abducts her and takes her to their home where Cameron tortures and sexually abuses her. For the next seven years, Colleen is imprisoned for up to 23 hours a day, in a coffin-sized box hidden beneath the couple’s bed. When not incarcerated, Colleen is part of a strange new life as a live-in slave, babysitter, and victim of Cameron’s bizarre and extreme sexual fantasies.

Immediately following the premiere of the film, the two-part special Colleen Stan: The Girl in the Box, which documents the real-life story of Colleen Stan, will air at 10pm ET/PT. Featuring news footage and firsthand accounts from Stan and police officials, the docu-special takes viewers through Stan’s journey to a new life.
