USA Network Premieres “Queen of the South”

See what the excitement is about at the USA Network; they premiered their new hot summer series last night and you won’t want to miss a minute of the story. So, here’s what happened… In the series premiere of QUEEN OF THE SOUTH, Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) learns that she has ended up in America during a confrontation with Camila (Verónica Falcón), the head of a drug operation based in Dallas, Texas. Then, make sure you mark your calendar because next week you won’t want to miss Mark Consuelos as a guest star! “Cuarenta Minutos” airs June 30th and continues with Teresa’s story. Here’s a sneak peek:
Still reeling from the loss of Güero’s (Jon Ecker) and her escape to America, Teresa (Alice Braga) has to fend for herself and avoids being forced into prostitution by proving her worth to Camila (Verónica Falcón). Epifanio’s (Joaquim de Almeida) hunt for Teresa leads him to contact Camila. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Brenda (Justina Machado), desperately tries to contact Teresa as she and Tony (Adolfo Alvarez) evade Epifanio’s hit men.

Queen of the South tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza, a woman who is forced to run and seek refuge in America after her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. In the process, she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run.
Starring Alice Braga (“I Am Legend”) as Teresa, this original drama series is based on the global best-selling novel “La Reina Del Sur,” by internationally-acclaimed author Arturo Pérez-Reverte. The heart-stopping drama is executive produced by David T. Friendly (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “Courage Under Fire”), along with M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller (“The Final Girls”). Scott Rosenbaum (“Gang Related”) serves as showrunner. The pilot was written by Fortin and Miller, directed by Charlotte Sieling and executive produced by Pancho Mansfield (“Damien”). Fox 21 Television Studios developed and produced the pilot and runs lead on the co-production with Universal Cable Productions.
