Los Angeles based drummer, DJ and producer Dylan Taylor announced this week that his debut EP G.R.A.V.E.S. will be released 9/2/2016. He has also released a DJ and drum video which can be watched on YouTube below.
Taylor has been turning heads in the YouTube community by creating unparalleled covers which combine his passion for drumming with EDM music; garnering nearly 12 Million views to date. Today the talented drummer/DJ is proud to announce the release of his debut EP titled G.R.A.V.E.S., set for 9/2/16. The EP features collaborations on 3 out of 5 of the tracks with notable artists such as The Ready Set, Cameron Byrd (of Hollywood Ending), and Matthew Beilis. Here is what Dylan Taylor had to say about the release:
G.R.A.V.E.S. has been a culmination of sleepless nights and self-discovery of how best to showcase my passion for drumming and electronic music. It’s been a very humbling and exciting experience to work with such gifted artists on my debut EP; their voices help give my songs an identity and character that wouldn’t be possible without their talents. I want this album to portray the passion and energy I exude in my live show, and I know G.R.A.V.E.S. (Get Righteous And Vibe Every Second) will give listeners the same excitement upon hearing it that I felt when I first started this creative process. Now, I’m ready for the world to finally have a glimpse into the mind of Dylan Taylor.
Beginning his drumming under the instruction of the highly acclaimed John Miceli (Meat Loaf), Taylor later relocated to Los Angeles and was discovered by Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit) through his videos. During his time in Los Angeles, Taylor began to expand his production knowledge to better incorporate all elements of the technical side of creating electronic music, while still growing as a songwriter and player doing session work on the drums. Today, Taylor’s EDM/ Live Drums experiment projects a unique style of music considered Electronic and Rock, but with an edge that people wouldn’t expect to hear in a club atmosphere. Bringing something very unique into the EDM music world, Taylor adds a live drum performance to his songs, rather than it being entirely computer-based. Inspiration from several artists and genres can be heard in Dylan Taylor’s sound, ranging from EDM artists like Zedd and Calvin Harris to alternative acts like The 1975 and Bon Iver. Taylor elaborates:
My background is based in the rock’n’roll scene, where everyone played their instruments live and the reputation of how you were as a player dictated your future opportunities and success. I am bringing a different energy, a new experience with familiar elements to the EDM World, but bringing a fresh perspective by incorporating live drums and other instrumentation. I’ll be doing it my own way, making you choose whether you want to dance or watch me put on a show.
