Modern Baseball Announces the Release of Holy Ghost and Tour Dates

Philadelphia indie punk quartet Modern Baseball are pleased to announce the release of a new track “The Wedding Singer” from their forthcoming third LP Holy Ghost. The video for the song was directed by Kyle Thrash, who has worked with the band in the past on music videos as well as their recent mini-documentary, “Tripping in the Dark”. The video for “The Wedding Singer” has proven to be their most ambitious production yet. You can watch the video for “The Wedding Singer” below.

The new album, Holy Ghost, will be released on Run For Cover Records on May 13, 2016, and Modern Baseball will then embark on a North American tour as the headline act, with support from Joyce Manor and Thin Lips (all tour dates below). Album and tickets for the tour are currently available for pre-sale via Run For Cover Records.

Holy Ghost marks a departure for the band as it is the first album recorded by someone other than the band themselves. Modern Baseball enlisted Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Joyce Manor) at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia to help refine their sound. Running a short 28 minutes, Holy Ghost covers an impressive emotional range, the record kicks off with six songs from Jacob Ewald and ends with five from Brenden Lukens. The record plays like a journal of the band’s last two years – the highs alongside the lows, tales from the road and glorious days at home alongside songs of heartbreak and personal struggle.

The band released their debut LP Sports through Lame-O Records in 2012. The record’s unique scrappy indie-punk sound pleasantly caught people by surprise. The band was quickly signed by Run For Cover Records in early 2013. By the time they released their follow-up record You’re Gonna Miss It All in 2014, Modern Baseball had built a solid foundation of deeply passionate fans. The record charted at #97 on Billboard’s Top 200 and led them to tours across the globe with bands like The Wonder Years, The Menzingers, and Say Anything.

Modern Baseball then released The Perfect Cast EP in 2015. Still flaunting their signature sincerity, the band showed they could turn their adolescent nervous energy into insightful emotional awareness and sonic power, while selling out headline shows across several continents.
