Michael Franti & Spearhead Will Release “SOULROCKER” in June

Formed in 1994, Michael Franti & Spearhead began blending the influences of hip-hop, rock, folk, and reggae to create some beautifully soulful music, which has gained them worldwide recognition. Now, the group readies themselves for a new album release set for June 3rd.

SOULROCKER will be Spearhead’s first release through Fantasy Records. This album will introduce the band’s new vision for electronic music, having a duality in being something to which audiences can move as well as progressing a message of hope.

Franti has been a longtime activist and filmmaker, releasing the documentary “I Know I’m Not Alone” in 2005 about the consequences of war on everyday people, and receiving the Domestic Human Rights Award from the Global Exchange. Through his music, Franti seeks to further his activist message to aid in bringing the world together in peace, something we do need in our lives at the moment.

Franti states, “Right now is a very challenging time for people, for our nation and the planet. But I really believe that music can help fight war and violence and hatred. The world needs that more than ever now, so my intention with this album was to make music that could bring people together.”

You can check out the first single from SOULROCKER, titled “Crazy for You,” here. Trust me, you will not be disappointed listening to it. SOULROCKER drops in just a few weeks on June 3rd, so don’t forget to pick up a copy for your summer playlist.
