Initial Thoughts: “The Technomancer” by Spider Studios

Mars: War Logs was a game that was well-received in a B-movie sort of way. The game seemed clumsy but had enough boyish charm to win many over – myself included. The story was on point and you could visually see the aspirations the game had which felt on par with hot successes like Mass Effect. In short, Mars: War Logs was awesome.

The Technomancer releases June 28 and, in it, Spider Studios has returned to the setting it first laid out in Mars: War Logs. The game is a sci-fi action role-playing game wherein the player takes on the role of Zacahariah, a rookie Technomancer on the run from the secret police during Mars’ War of Water, 200 years after humans have colonized the planet.

With features such as crafting your own arms and armor, growing your party into Zachatiah’s dirty dozen a la Commander Sheperd, and leveling up one of three different styles of combat to take on the dangers of Mars, the game is ambitious. The team estimates around 30 hours of game time not including side quests and the like which can extend that to 50+ hours. Not much else is known about the game despite it being so close to release, but keep an eye out for The Technomancer due out June 28 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

If you love single player RPG games and are looking for something new, I’d look into this.
