Radio Disney Music Awards to Be a Star Studded Event

The countdown to the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards is almost up!

This year’s show is poised to be the biggest yet, with more than 238 million fan votes tallied from around the world. Votes were cast across five polling platforms: the Radio Disney App, Disney.com/RDMA, Twitter, Facebook and Google OneBox.

The competition is fierce this year and the artists are rising to the occasion. Nick Jonas told Radio Disney he’s going to “take out” Sabrina Carpenter this year, as redemption for losing to her in 2015. Carpenter wasted no time in capitalizing on the opportunity of his phrasing.

Award categories include “The Bestest – Song of the Year,” “The Buzz – Breakout Artist of the Year” and “That’s My Jam – Best Anthem.” Winners of RDMA nominations will be awarded with the famous Radio Disney “ARDY” statuette.

Radio Disney has been announcing RDMA performers and presenters via Twitter in the days leading up to the show.

Sofia Carson is set to perform her latest single “Love Is The Name.” Her Adventures In Babysitting co-star Sabrina Carpenter will also perform her newest single “Smoke and Fire.” Kelsea Ballerini will team up with Daya to perform a mash-up of their songs “Peter Pan” and “Hideaway.”

Other performers include Ariana Grande, DNCE, Flo Rida, Hailee Steinfeld, Jordan Smith, Laura Marano and Zara Larsson. A special surprise by Justin Bieber performing in a class at a Tulsa, Oklahoma high school will also be presented exclusively during the televised special.

The list of presenters is just as impressive as the performers, including Alessia Cara, Alli Simpson, Ashley Benson (“Pretty Little Liars”), Ashley Tisdale, Ben Savage (“Girl Meets World”), Cameron Boyce (“Gamers Guide to Pretty Much Everything,” “Descendants”), Dan + Shay, Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan (The Girl and the Dreamcatcher, “Liv and Maddie”), Fall Out Boy, Forever in Your Mind, Jacob Whitesides, Jordan Fisher, Katherine McNamara & Emeraude Toubia (“Shadowhunters”), Lennon & Maisy (“Nashville”), Maddie & Tae, Marcus Scribner, Marsai Martin, Miles Brown and Yara Shahidi (“black-ish”), Mark Cuban (“Shark Tank”), Rachel Platten, Sonika Vaid (“American Idol”), Vanessa Marano (“Switched at Birth”) and Zach LaVine (Minnesota Timberwolves).

Pharell Williams is set to present former The Voice coach and friend Gwen Stefani with the Radio Disney Hero Award, given in recognition of the positive impact she has on fans, inspiring them to do good.

Whether you’re a devoted RDMA fan or this is your first time tuning in, the 2016 RDMAs are sure to be the biggest and best yet. Check out how Sabrina Carpenter, Peyton Meyer, Joey Bragg and Corey Fogelmanis describe the RDMA’s!
