New Indiegogo Campaign Launched for The Go-Getters

The Go-Getters is an independently produced film which has been co-written by Aaron Abrams and Brenden Gall and will be directed by Jeremy LaLonde.  An Indiegogo campaign was launched this week to help finance this project.   Why crowd fund you might ask (or maybe you didn’t) no matter, they’re going to tell you anyway!

The Go-Getters is a very dark and edgy comedy, the kind that would have a hard time finding funding in traditional places, and the last thing we want to do is tone it down.  We want to maintain the fucked up integrity that is this film, and the only way to do that is to make sure that we maintain control of it, and the only way is to control the funding.  Indiegogo is the only place where we can make the purest version of this film.  And like our heroes Owen and Lacie, who are scrambling for their money to get on the bus, we’re scrambling to get on the road to making the film. So why don’t you hop on with us? We can’t do it without you, and to be honest – we don’t want to.

Aaron Abrams, a graduate of Chicago’s Goodman School of Drama has appeared in recurring roles on TV in ‘Hannibal’, ‘Blindspot’, ‘Slings and Arrows’ and ‘Stargate: Atlantis’.  He can also be seen in The L.A. Complex and Young People Fucking, which he co-wrote and produced.

Brendan Gall is currently a writer and producer for the NBC/Warner Bros show Blindspot.  He also wrote and produced The L.A. Complex for the CW.

Jeremy LaLonde, of Toronto, was recently named ‘Best Local Filmmaker’ by NOW magazine.  His previous films, Sex After Kids and How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town have both won prestigious awards at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and the Edmonton International Film Festival respectively

Joining these three on the production and rounding out the cast are Megan Park, Kristian Bruun, Christine Horne, Suresh John and Amy Jo Johnson.  This talented ensemble tells the story of Owen, a deadbeat drunk and Lacie, a strung out hooker who decide to escape to a small town and steal Lacie’s grandmother’s house.  First, though, they’ll need bus fare!

The Indiegogo campaign offers more information on the production as well as a short (and hilarious) trailer.  Take a couple of minutes to read through the various perks that are up for grabs, make your choice and help this film get made.
