Hit The Lights Announces New Acoustic EP

unnamed (8)

It’s been a year since Summer Bones, the fourth full-length studio album from Hit the Lights, charted on the Billboard Independent Charts and earned strong reviews from All Music and AbsolutePunk. While fans may be clamoring for the new full-length teased by lead singer Nick Thompson last October, the band will not leave them high and dry. On May 6th, the band will release a new acoustic EP titled Just Got To Get Through To You.

“We’ve had a lot of time off as a band and thought it would be nice to have something to release before we head out on the Pure Noise Tour this Spring,” said Thompson. “Originally, there were a few tracks from Summer Bones that we thought would be fun to do acoustically, and from there the idea sprang up to do a few older tracks as a nod to our older fans who have stuck by us throughout our career as HTL… Overall, Just to Get Through to You is something we made for the fans we have – just a little appreciation recording we felt people would enjoy while awaiting the next record.”

In preparation for this release, Hit the Lights has released a new track titled “Lighthouse.”

“Lighthouse” is a much different HTL track that could only be released on an acoustic EP like this,” Thompson said. “We didn’t originally plan on having a new song included in the release of Just to Get Through to You, it’s one of those songs that just happened and we feel it’s a great way to end the EP. It’s a love song. It doesn’t pretend to be anything else, it doesn’t reach for any type of “edge,” or try to be different just for the sake of being different.  We’ve recorded other acoustic songs, but the simplicity of “Lighthouse” is what sets it apart from the others.”

Alongside “Lighthouse,” Just to Get Through To You features acoustic versions of “F*cked Up Kids,” “Drop the Girl,” and “Save Your Breath.”

When the EP is released Hit the Lights will be on the road with Seaway, Boston Manor, Can’t Swim, and Casey Bolles on the Pure Noise Records Tour.
