Comic-Con‘s sister event, WonderCon is back this weekend and DC Entertainment is making its presence seen and heard both as a sponsor and media powerhouse! DCE will be not only heading some of the most exciting panels over the weekend, but will be holding amazing events at their massive booth over the three-day event. Here’s a rundown of some of the epic activities happening over at WonderCon 2016!
Amazing At-Booth Activities
From signings to live artist exhibitions to a giant, flying Superman soaring overhead – the DCE booth is going to be buzzing all weekend! You’ll be able to shop for con-exclusive collectibles, meet some of your favorite artists and writers in DC Comics, and even see a life-size replica of the Bat Signal from Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice made entirely out of LEGOs!
Fans will be able to go behind the scenes at the DC Entertainment – All Access panel, where you can join big shots from DC Comics, Vertigo, and MAD as they offer new and veteran fans alike an in-depth look into the most exciting stories ever told by their respective properties! Also set to join is contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya, the man behind several astounding LEGO creations in his project, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics.
Collectors will also be excited to know that DCE will be running a panel dedicated to DC Collectibles, highlighting many of their spectacular products! From action figures to intricate statues and busts, it’s a must-see event where they will talk about the conceptualization of these anticipated items. You’ll also get a sneak-peek into what’s on the horizon.
WonderCon-exclusive Variant Covers
The Graphitti Designs booth will have several variant covers available only at this year’s WonderCon! You can pick up a copy of Batman #50, Superman #50, and Wonder Woman #50 with special Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice covers. These covers feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman to commemorate the release of BvS this weekend! Also available this weekend are variant covers of Dark Knight III: The Master Race, featuring cover art from Howard Porter, Jill Thompson, and Paul Pope.
#DCRebirth Press Event
The greatly awaited DC Rebirth title relaunch, touting new #1 releases of greats such as Batman, The Flash, and Green Lantern will be the focus of a press event being hosted at WonderCon this weekend! Further details of this exciting initiative will be announced live for fans both at WonderCon and for those at home watching live via DCComics.com/Live or via the DCE YouTube channel.
Already on sale as of May 25th is the DC REBIRTH SPECIAL, an 80-page publication by Geoff Johns introducing fans to the new universe set up by DCE. DCE co-publisher Dan DiDio is quoted saying in regards to this issue, “It’s going to have what I believe is the single most controversial scene in DC Comics in all the time I’ve been there.”
