Before Witches of East End and American Horror Story: Coven, there was the WB’s Charmed, a fantasy series centered around three sisters—the Halliwells—who discover that they are part of an enormous magical legacy. Created by Constance M. Burge, the show follows the sisters as they mature into the most powerful witches of all-time, deemed “The Charmed Ones,” and use their combined “Power of Three” to protect innocent lives from numerous supernatural threats. Despite their abilities, the sisters try to maintain normal lives in modern San Francisco, a struggle that becomes more difficult as each of their unique powers evolves and grows stronger. Inevitably, the effort to keep their magical lives separate from their mundane ones results in a multitude of professional, personal and legal consequences throughout the series.
The show ran for a total of eight seasons, gaining quite a cult following while it was on the air. The first three seasons focused on Prue (Shannon Doherty), Piper (Hollie Marie Combs) and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) Halliwell. Following the death of Prue in the third season finale, their long lost half-sister Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan) assumes her place in the “Power of Three” from season four onwards. At 178 episodes, the series has received critical acclaim as well as numerous awards and nominations. In addition, it’s also considered one of the greatest sci-fi/fantasy shows of all-time, resulting in it becoming a fixture in pop culture.
It’s hard to believe that this iconic series has been off the air for almost ten years—and although multiple television networks still show reruns, the cast and crew have moved on. So what has the cast of Charmed been up to since the final curtain closed? Of course, many of them have become well-known faces on television and in the movies, but what about the others? Keep reading to find out!
Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell)
Before playing big sister Prue Halliwell on Charmed, most people knew Shannen Doherty as Brenda from 90210. After leaving Charmed at the end of its third season, she went on to star in multiple TV movies, such as Another Day, The Rendering, View of Terror, Christmas Caper, Kiss Me Deadly, Encounter with Danger and Growing the Big One. In addition, she scored roles in the shows North Shore, Love Inc. and Mari-Kari. She also reprised her role as Brenda in the 90210 reboot that aired from 2008-2009 and participated in Dancing with the Stars in 2010. Her upcoming projects include the films Undateable John, MallBrats, How to Make a Deal with the Devil, Back in the Day and Bethany.
Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell)
When Prue died in the season three finale, middle sister Piper, played by the amazing Holly Marie Combs, was thrust into the “big sister” role—and she didn’t disappoint. After Charmed ended, Combs starred in a string of made-for-TV movies, including Point of Entry and Mistresses. She is currently starring on the show Pretty Little Liars as the character Ella Montgomery.
Alyssa Milano (Phoebe Halliwell)
Prior to playing the youngest Halliwell sister, Phoebe, Alyssa Milano was best known for her roles on Who’s the Boss and Melrose Place. After Charmed ended, Milano immediately joined the cast of My Name is Earl for a ten-episode stint. Then, she moved on to the shows Romantically Challenged and Mistresses. She has also starred in several TB movies, such as Reinventing the Wheelers, Single with Parents, Me and Everyone Else and Sundays at Tiffany’s. She was recently featured in the TV special Maxim Magazine and Bootsy Bellows Big Game Live.
Rose McGowan (Paige Matthews)
Rose McGowan first gained public attention for her role in the cult horror film Scream. However, her role on Charmed as half-sister Paige Matthews served as her big break in the industry. After that show ended, she began to divide her attention between the big and small screen. She starred in the movies The Black Dahlia, Grindhouse, Deathproof, Planet Terror, Machete, Conan the Barbarian and Rosewood Lane. In addition, she also landed roles in the shows Nip/Tuck, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Chosen. Fans can expect to see her in the upcoming movies Lower Bay and The Tell-Tale Heart.
Brian Krause (Leo Wyatt)
In many ways, Charmed helped put Brian Krause on the acting map. Before starring as the Halliwell sister’s Whitelighter Leo Wyatt, he had one-spot guest star roles on shows like Walker, Texas Ranger and Tales from the Crypt. After Charmed ended, Krause began guest-starring on a string of shows, such as CSI: Miami, The Closer, Mad Men, Castle, The Unknown and Dark Rising: Warrior of Worlds. He also starred in the television movies Beyond Loch Ness, Warbirds, Next Stop Murder, Actors Anonymous, Stalked at 17 and Expecting Amish. He is currently slated to star in the upcoming films Sand Trap, Ribbons, Jessica Frost and Bigfoot.
Dorian Gregory (Det. Darryl Morris)
Before playing Detective Darryl Morris in Charmed, Dorian Gregory made a name for himself by starring in the show Baywatch Nights and the movie Deliver Us from Eva. After his role on Charmed ended, Gregory went on to guest star in the shows Bad Girls’ Club, The Bernie Mac Show, Las Vegas and Without a Trace. Fans can anticipate seeing him in the upcoming project The Lurking Man.
Julian McMahon (Cole Turner)
Prior to playing Cole Turner on Charmed, Julian McMahon was kicking butt and taking names on the shows Home and Away, Another World and Profiler. After his role on Charmed wrapped up, McMahon went on to star as Dr. Christian Troy in the show Nip/Tuck and then Stanley Murphy in the series Full Circle. In addition, he landed roles in the movies Fantastic Four, Premonition, Predator, RED, Fire with Fire, Paranoia and You’re Not You. He recently played Rupert Boyce in the TV mini-series Childhood’s End. Fans can expect to see him in the upcoming movie Justice in a Smoking Gun and in the show Hunters.
Wes Ramsey (Wyatt Halliwell)
Although Wes Ramsay only appeared in a few episodes as the oldest of Piper’s children, Wyatt, he certainly made an impression. In addition to acting on Charmed, Ramsay was also a series regular on the soap operas Guiding Light and Days of Our Lives. He also guest-starred on the shows Heroes, House M.D., CSI: NY, The Event, Grey’s Anatomy, The Mentalist, Castle, Pretty Little Liars, and Stalker. Additionally, he was a recurring star on the shows The Playboy Club, CSI: Miami and Venice the Series. He will soon be appearing in the movies Two Pictures and Last Seen in Idaho.
Drew Fuller
Last but not least, we have Drew Fuller, who joined Charmed as the Charmed One’s new Whitelighter, Chris, in 2003. However, it wasn’t long before fans learned that there was much more to Chris than they originally assumed. Instead of being just another Whitelighter, the Charmed Ones discover that Chris is really Piper’s youngest son, who came from the future in order to prevent his older brother Wyatt from becoming evil. Prior to playing this role, Fuller was guest-starring on television shows like Black Sash and The O.C. The year after Charmed ended, Fuller joined the cast of Army Wives as the character Trevor LeBlanc. He also starred in the movies The Ultimate Gift, Blonde Ambition, Loaded, The Kane Trials: Life of Trial and Fatal Instinct. Fans can anticipate seeing him in the upcoming movie Cloudland.
