Cover Wars: White Iverson

Post Malone

“White Iverson” is the debut single from American hip-hop artist, Post Malone. The song was released in February of 2015 on Post’s SoundCloud. The idea for the song came from Post thinking he looked like a “White Iverson” after getting braids in his hair, a reference to basketball player, Allen Iverson. The song was released only two days after it was written.

“White Iverson” quickly brought Post to the attention of record labels, after the song gained over a million plays in just one month after being uploaded. Post signed to Republic Records and afterwards released the song’s official remix on December 7,2015 which features Rae Sremmurd and French Montana.

The music video for “White Iverson” was released in July of 2015 and has gained over 100 million YouTube views since it was released. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 84, and has since peaked at number 14.

“White Iverson” is one of those songs that sounds good no matter the mood or the situation and everyone can jam to it no matter their musical tastes.
