If you’re not familiar with Lin-Manuel Miranda then chances are you haven’t been paying attention to social media. It seems all anyone can talk about these days is Hamilton, the hip hop musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton.
He is best known for his work in musical theater. He wrote his first production, In the Heights, his sophomore year of college. It won a Tony Award in 2008 for Best Original Score.
Lin has an impressive resume of guest spots, including my personal faves House, M.D. and How I Met Your Mother. In both episodes he managed to free-style, which is quite impressive.
In August of 2015, Hamilton, penned by Miranda, opened on Broadway. It has received a huge following and I’m sad to say I only discovered it last month. Since then it has become my jam and I encourage you to listen if you haven’t. Lin is incredibly talented and if it weren’t for him, I’d have gone on with the rest of my life not knowing the details of Alexander Hamilton’s life, other than getting shot by Aaron Burr (sir. Listen to the soundtrack to get that reference!)
Lin is incredibly active on Twitter, where he posts photos and videos of his time on Hamilton.
Please enjoy my favorite song from the Hamilton soundtrack, then come find me when you’re properly addicted and we can fangirl (or fanboy!) together.
