Gilmore Girls Reunion on Netflix Officially Confirmed

Netflix officially confirmed today that Stars Hollow will light up on our screens once again. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, and Sean Gunn have all confirmed they will reprise their roles as part of a Gilmore Girls revival which has fans buzzing all over the Internet. (More cast members confirmed below).

It started with a simple tweet from Netflix saying:

Then came confirmation from the one and only, Lorelai Gilmore via Lauren Graham’s twitter account saying:

I CAN NOW CONFIRM: it’s time for me, and this jacket I stole in 2007, to return to work. @netflix #GilmoreGirls — Lauren Graham (@thelaurengraham) January 29, 2016

Although Netflix is still mum on the details, the rumors are that the show will take place in current day (eight years after the finale) and will be in four-90 minute installments on the streaming service.

According to Netflix, each episode will be written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino and their writing team. The four episodes will take place during a difference season (i.e. spring, summer, fall, winter) but will only cover the span of one year collectively.

Filming starts in February with an air date still to be determined.

Update — 02/22/2016 — More actors have confirmed they will be coming back for the revival. They include: Vanessa Marano, Emily Kuroda, Sally Struthers, Todd Lowe, Jackson Douglas, Liz Torres, Tanc Sade, Rose Abdoo, and Michael Winters. Read more here.

Update — 02/11/2016 —

Jared Padalecki, Danny Strong, and David Sutcliffe are now officially confirmed.

The three stars will be returning to Stars Hollow and all three are set to appear in at least one 90-minute episode on Netflix. More details to come. However, yesterday Jared did tweet that he was in Austin “working on some business” could that include preparing his lines?

Update — 02/10/2016 — Netflix confirmed via a press release that Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, Liza Weil,  and Yanic Truesdale (who previously announced it on Twitter) would be joining the Gilmore Girls revival. Milo Ventimiglia tweeted right away about the good news.

Update — 02/02/2016 — Melissa McCarthy took to Twitter to tell fans that she will NOT be participating in the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix. Although there has been some chatter on whether or not McCarthy was asked and denied the invitation or was not asked, she took to her Twitter account to clarify saying “sadly no one asked me” and wished the cast “the best.”

Update — 01/30/2016 — Yanic Truesdale has also confirmed he will be in the Gilmore Girls revival via his Twitter account. He posted a photo with a sign saying his name and below it, “Michel” saying he feels “blessed” and “excited” to be returning. Check out the tweet below.
