Date Set for Radio Disney Music Awards

Music’s biggest event for families has set its date for the 2016 awards ceremony! On Saturday, April 30th, Radio Disney will hold the fourth annual Radio Disney Music Awards (RDMA) ceremony at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre. And this year, the celebration will involve more performances than before! Moreover, two new categories have been added to the awards that an artist can win: Radio Disney Country Favorite Artist, and Radio Disney Country Favorite Song.

Along with the festivities on April 30th, Disney Channel will present a two-hour telecast, “Disney Channel Presents the Radio Disney Music Awards” on the following night, Sunday, May 1st. The telecast will premiere at 7:00pm EST in the US. After that, it will be available in 159 countries, a significant increase from just 44 countries in 2015. Thus far, the telecast has culminated a few well-known sponsors, namely Cheddar Goldfish® Crackers, BAND-AID® Brand Bandages, and Kraft® Macaroni and Cheese Shapes. The event will be executively produced by Jesse Ignjatovic, and Evan Prager for the second year in a row. Unable to catch the event and the telecast? Families can catch highlights of the award gala at Radio Disney’s website RadioDisney.com, as well as on Radio Disney, through Radio Disney’s App, and WATCH Disney Channel.

The RDMA was a huge success last year, generating over 100 million votes on the Radio Disney App and social media, not including the 5 million+ votes casted by international fans. Twitter alone held 6.1 million comments from a whopping 1.5 million users. Indeed, the Radio Disney App had its highest number of visitors yet! Disney Channel’s telecast of the event drew in an audience of 4.3 million. This put the RDMA ahead of a couple of notable televised music awards from 2015 regarding target demographic, including the Grammy Awards, and the Billboard Music Awards. Compared to the Grammys, the RDMA was rated #1 among kids 6-11, and received 1.1 million views as opposed to the Grammys’ 800,000. Likewise, the Radio Disney Music Awards reached 1.2 million kids aged 2-11, versus Billboard’s numbers of 822,000; 1.1 million kids aged 6-11 vs. 546,000; and 988,000 kids aged 9-14 vs. 856,000.

Once again, the Radio Disney Music Awards is set to be held on SaturdayApril 30th at the Microsoft Theatre in LA. And on the following night, Disney Channel will premiere “Disney Channel Presents the Radio Disney Music Awards” at 7:oopm EST. Don’t miss music’s biggest family event!
