iZombie: It’s About Clive

images (1)iZombie Clive fans rejoice. “The Hurt Stalker” allowed our favorite cop to take the forefront in the episode. This article contains spoilers so if you haven’t watched the episode, please do not continue reading.

When the latest murder victim turns out to be an ex-girlfriend of Clive’s, he becomes the number one suspect.

Normally, I would balk at having Clive being the accused. This plot isn’t exactly an original one. I can name many series in which the lead or one of the main characters are accused of a crime. Since viewers know they are innocent, the stakes aren’t exactly high. But this mystery felt different and not just because of the “brain eating to gather clues” angle. For me, what made it different is Clive’s complete trust in Liv and Ravi to clear his name.

Clive, Liv and Ravi haven’t really known each other long. Truthfully, Clive really doesn’t know them. He isn’t in their circle of trust since they haven’t shared the truth about Liv’s zombie affliction. But even with things left unsaid, viewers know they care about each other.

iZombie is one of those rare shows that encompasses many genres. It has elements of horror, sci-fi mystery and comedy rolled up into one entertainment package. But with everything, the friendships displayed are the most powerful. It reminds me a lot of Buffy in that regard. With the dangers amidst, the only thing you can count on are your friends.

With everything iZombie has to offer, the biggest mystery is why aren’t more people watching? And sadly, Liv can’t eat any brains to solve that mystery.

iZombie airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
