London based singer-songwriter Hayley Cannon delivers a powerful debut album, “Who Are You?” Cannon’s album has been lauded in various media outlets including BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, Beefeater London Gin’s website ‘London Sounds’, and she was even name by The Guardian as a “One to watch”.
Haley Cannon’s music has been placed in the genre of acoustic pop folk music, but it much more unique than that. The title track, “Who Are You” is beautifully produced and the beginning of the song has very traditional folk instrumentalities, but by the end of the song the music takes on an anxious quality. With her exceptional musical abilities, Cannon can actually make the listener feel what she is singing about.
Cannon displays her instrumental talents by providing both the piano and violin accompaniments on the album. Her instrumental talents truly shine in the song “Strangers” without over powering Cannon’s haunting yet powerful voice. “Home” is another song off the album that really displays Cannon’s vocal abilities. Her lyrics are raw and she is open to share with her listeners what she wants to say.
“Who Are You?” is a wonderful debut album which showcases not only Hayley Cannon’s writing skills but also her incredible talents as a musician.
