What if Buffy Summers Teamed Up with Supernatural’s Sam and Dean Winchester?

In 1997, Buffy Summers was humanity’s only defense against vampires and other supernatural evil on television. She and her Scooby Gang defeated many of the undead and other supernatural threats with teamwork, skill and research. Her fighting technique and witty puns made her the ideal hunter.

But what if Buffy used her skills and joined forces with actual hunters? What would a pairing between Buffy Summers and Supernatural’s Sam and Dean Winchester be like?

There has been fan speculation regarding these two television universes crossing, with numerous Buffy/Supernatural fan fiction being written.

Buffy shares similar personality traits with the Winchesters, particularly Dean. She uses jokes as a defense mechanism to hide her feelings of low self-esteem and doubt. Like Sam, she wanted a normal life.  But would a partnership between the slayer and the hunters work?  Buffy is used to doing things her own way. And Dean likes to give orders. He’s bossy. Buffy would kick Dean’s ass first before following his rules!  A successful partnership involves everyone’s input.

And let’s not mention the sexual tension that would more than likely be a distraction. Not only between Buffy and Dean but also between Buffy and Sam.

But she and the Winchesters are definitely used to dealing with end of the world issues. After all, Buffy’s home town of Sunnydale was swallowed into a hole. Fighting The Darkness? Easy peasy for our spunky slayer.

Obviously, the odds of a Buffy/Supernatural crossover is as likely as Supernatural winning an Academy Award, but it’s fun to imagine storyline scenarios.
