“Here” is Alessia Cara’s debut single from her EP Four Pink Walls. Alessia is a singer/songwriter from Canada who prior to being signed to a record label was known for doing acoustic covers on YouTube. “Here” was released in April of 2015 and has been slowly gaining popularity ever since. According to Alessia, the song is about everyone who secretly hates parties.
The music video for “Here” was released on YouTube in of May of 2015, it features Alessia at a party being the only one moving while everyone around her are frozen in time. In July of 2015 Alessia made her US television debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon performing “Here” after Jimmy had found the song online. Alessia was also featured singing “Here” as Taylor Swift’s guest on her Tampa, Florida stop of the 1989 World Tour. While “Here” had a slow start it eventually peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
“Here” was a song that I heard on Spotify every now and then. It always got stuck in my head but I never actually figured out who sang the song. After seeing the video of Alessia singing the song with T.Swift I completely fell in love with it and haven’t stopped listening to it since. So to honor every person that hates parties and to thank Spotify and T. Swift for gracing me with Alessia’s fantastic voice, here are my top 5 cover of “Here” by Alessia Cara.
