Veteran actress Nicki Aycox releases her EP “Red Velvet Room” online
Actress Nicki Aycox has enjoyed a long and successful television and film career. Best known for her television roles on The X Files, Supernatural and Dark Blue and the film Jeepers Creepers 2, Aycox can now add another talent to her already impressive repertoire, musician, with the release of her EP “Red Velvet Room.”
I recently interviewed Nicki Aycox who talked about the process of creating Red Velvet Room. Growing up in Oklahoma she says fostered her love for the musical stylings of Stevie Nicks, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash and Willie Nelson. Aycox confessed that she loves artists who have “character in their voice and demonstrate emotion.”
The same can be said of Aycox herself for there certainly is strength of character in her voice as well as a plethora of emotion. Hauntingly beautiful pitch range and lyrical splendor highlight this debut effort.
Aycox noted that Red Velvet Room “was written from a state of nostalgia.” Her experiences living in New York and absorbing the sights and sounds of the City that never sleeps had an impact on her.
Red Velvet Room includes such songs as Johnny, Charcoal Rain and My Secret. The EP can be purchased on iTunes.
