Preview of the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Monday night on The CW is about to get crazy.
On October 12 before Jane The Virgin , the new comedy starring Rachel Bloom Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres.
Bloom plays Rebecca Bunch, a young woman who dated Josh (Vincent Rodriquez) when they were in high school in 2005. But Josh dumped her. When Rachel sees Josh ten years later in New York, he tells her he’s moving to California, and shockingly she follows him there.
The premise of the series is similar to Felicity, which starred Keri Russell as a young woman changing her life plans to follow the object of her affections. That’s where the similarities end. While Felicity was about a young girl following her high school crush to college, Rebecca is a successful woman who leaves her career as a partner in a law firm and a Manhattan apartment to follow an old boyfriend who dumped her.
The trick will be whether the writers (Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna) of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend can make Rebecca fun and quirky without being too desperate and stalkerish.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is lucky to have Jane the Virgin as its Monday night network show companion. Maybe The CW is hoping that audiences will take to Rebecca as they did Jane.
It remains to see whether this new Monday comedy will be a hit or whether it’s just crazy.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres Monday, October 12 at 9/8c on The CW.
