Natalie Dormer Enters The Forest in a Spooky New Trailer

With Halloween fast approaching, what better way to begin your October than with an exclusive trailer for the new supernatural movie The Forest that is bound to scare your socks off?

Starring Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer, The Forest was directed by Jason Zada and is based on an original idea by David S. Goyer. Most of the filming was done on location in Tokyo, Japan and in the areas surrounding the legendary Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji.

The supernatural thriller tells the story of a young American woman named Sara (played by Dormer) who goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared.  Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders into the forest. The Forest‘s supporting cast includes Taylor Kinney, Yukiyoshi Ozawa, Eoin Macken, Rina Takasaki, Kikuo Ichikawa, Noriko Sakura, Yûho Yamashita, Stephanie Vogt and James Owen.

It seems filmmakers are fascinated by the real-life Aokigahara forest, also known as the Suicide Forest, as it is the setting of another upcoming movie, The Sea of Trees, which stars the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe.

The Aokigahara forest has been associated with demons in Japanese mythology, and has been the site of hundreds of suicides throughout the years. It was estimated that, in 2010, more than 200 people tried to take their own lives in the forest, 54 of whom were successful.

While The Forest is set for release January 8th 2016, where it will go head to head with The Revenant at the box office, doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about it yet! I mean, Natalie Dormer and supernatural beings – what’s not to love?
