Yesterday I got the opportunity to chat with the super charming Dylan Bruce at the MTV Fandom Awards. With striking blue eyes and a bright smile, he talked about his time on Orphan Black, and his new show, Heroes Reborn, premiering this fall on NBC.

Did you know that you were going to leave Orphan Black in advance?

“I actually found out last Comic Con! It gave me a lot of time to think about how to approach the writers on how we wanted to end the character. We had a little pow wow and I was super pleased that Paul left the way he did.”

Did the cast do anything special for your departure?

“We were working and it was right before Christmas break when I died so everyone was going their separate directions. But Kevin Hanchard who plays Detective Art Bell came to set, Kristin Booth who plays Bonnie, and Jordan Gavaris who plays Felix. I was also working with Tatiana, so she was there. Everybody came to say goodbye and I was so touched, it was emotional, they brought me cupcakes it really sweet. It was almost like they were sending a family member off to college or something. Since I had been there a long period of time it was really cute and sweet.”

Do you still watch the show?

“Oh Orphan Black? Heck yeah! I’m one of the biggest fans of my own show! I love my cast so much and I wish them all the best. They are a great group of smart and talented people, how could I not be a fan! It was really cool that I was a part of that, so of course I cheer them on from the sidelines, big time!”

Have you been doing anything around Comic Con?

“Well I just got here a couple hours ago, so I haven’t been able to do something yet. But there’s a lot of fun things planned for Orphan Black and Heroes this weekend so I am really excited. I’m ready to get on the Con floor and have a good time!”

Speaking of Heroes, advertisements for the show have been everywhere, how is the show going?

“It is so cool, I am having a lot of fun shooting that. It is just such a cool, high concept show. The effects and everything are so spectacular, I’m really excited for everyone to see it this fall it’s going to be awesome! I’m not just saying that! I wouldn’t say that if I didn’t really believe it, it’s going to be really good.”

For anyone who isn’t really familiar with the show, how would you sum it up in 2 words?

“Game of Thronesian. There’s a lot of storylines, thrilling episodes, great performances, and smart minded experiences, it’s the total package. It’s beautiful stimulation for the eyes and the brain, it’s going to be really cool.”

What show are you currently nerding out over?

“On TV right now, definitely True Detective. I know a lot of people aren’t feeling it, but Colin Farrell is the man. Rachel and Taylor Kitsch are doing such a great job, I’m just really enjoying it.”

Heroes Reborn premieres September 24th at 8/7c on NBC.

Orphan Black was recently renewed for a 4th season, which will air in 2016.
