Trubel. Oh, we got Trubel, right here in Portland.
As a huge fan of NBC’s Grimm (who doesn’t love watching a good looking Grimm hunt down killer wesen?), I have one request for the show — promote Jacqueline Toboni, who plays Theresa “Trubel” Rubel, to a series regular, stat!
Why wouldn’t this supernatural/fairy tale series that already revolves around a kickass Grimm (hello, Nick Burkhardt) and some badass wesen (hey there, Monroe and Rosalee) want to permanently add a female Grimm to the mix?
With that said, here are 8 reasons why Toboni should be promoted.
1. She’s Got Style
Just check out that leather jacket, jeans, black boots (you can’t see them, but trust me, they’re there) and the most amazing short cut any girl would kill to have. Trubel is a total rockstar. If her style doesn’t say, “I should totally be promoted to a series regular,” I don’t know what does.
2. She Has One Healthy Appetite
Trubel can eat. Whether it’s Chinese food or spaghetti, Trubel has one healthy appetite. She’s not ashamed to stuff her face and inhale her favorite dishes in front of a group of people. She might not have the best manners, but I’d still take her out for a meal.
3. She’s a Grimm
Yes, this is obvious. BUT, now that Nick’s Grimm powers are dunzo (for now), how else are they going to identify wesen and fight villains? Sure, Nick’s still probably a badass. And, we still have Hank, Juliette, Monroe and Rosalee to assist, but Trubel can fight and identify wesen all at once. Oh, and the show is called Grimm, right?
4. She Has Heart
Trubel brings even more heart to the show. She’s a lost young woman who has finally found a family that accepts her for who and what she is. All of that has brought out her huge heart and fight to make the world a better place.
5. She’s Witty
Monroe definitely knows how to make me laugh, but so does Trubel. She’s funny without even knowing she’s funny. If you can make me laugh during a serious issue or intense moment, then you’re good in my book.
6. She’s Badass
Trubel knows how to keep up with the best of them, including her teacher and fellow Grimm Nick. She’s given him, the cops and other wesen a run for their money. Anyone else want to take a class from her on how to fight?
7. She Has a Kick-Ass Name
Her name is Trubel. It’s awesome. That’s all.
8. This Is Her Big Break
For those unaware, this is Toboni’s big break. That’s right, she scored the part during one of her screenwriting classes at the University of Michigan. While visiting her class, Grimm exec-producer Jim Kouf noticed Toboni’s talent after a table read. As he said in a statement, “This was one of those serendipitous moments where we walked into a college classroom to talk about television and walked out with a star. Although it’s most likely the rarest of casting calls, it definitely fits with Grimm – it’s a fairy tale within a fairy tale.”
Now, let’s give Toboni an even bigger and better happy ending by upping her to series regular status!
