‘The Walking Dead’ S4Ep2 "Infected"
If there were any lessons to be learned in this season’s second episode, it would be that in this new world there is no such thing as “safe” and “normal” and the sooner they grasp that realization the better off they will be. The second lesson would be washing your hands; good hygiene is important whether there are zombies around or not. Just when you think, the universe has had its fill messing with the survivors, it brings back the mother of all flus. These people just can’t win.
But hell, at least they have people like Carol who have no problems teaching younglings how to defend themselves or shanking some poor, unsuspecting zombie in a prison cell. Now, while I can understand why Carol is defying what she believes would be Rick’s wishes I don’t believe she should have tried to put Carl in the middle of it.
Carol – like Carl and Daryl – has come a long way since season 1, but if she felt as though what she was doing was for the good of the group she should have told Rick herself. Regardless of how Carl may or may not feel on the subject, he was right to let Rick know. In an earlier post, I stated that Season 4 would be Daryl’s season to shine, but I am starting to believe this season belongs to Carl. Speaking of Carl, I am enjoying the ease of which Michonne acts around him and Rick. It as if she feels as though she belongs with them.
I don’t know why I was so surprised that Michonne used to be a mom. It really does make perfect sense. No, seriously, it does. Think about it for a second. She was very protective over Andrea in an almost motherly way and other than Andrea; one of the first people she connected with was Carl. Which makes me wonder did she lose her child to the zombies or did her tragedy happen before the world went to hell? I have a feeling it was the latter. Poor Michonne, she is learning that no matter how hard you try you can not outrun your past.

I have to hand it to Rick; he lasted as a peaceful farmer longer than I thought he would. Now, granted he did have some kick-ass people waiting in the wings to help carry the load. Between Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Herschel, Carol, and Sasha life at the prison was pretty sweet. Oh sure there were some other people involved they shall remain nameless strangers put there merely to satisfy our never-ending need for zombie bloodshed.
I confess I never read the graphic novels the show was based on, but through a little thing I like to call…research, I have learned that Tyreese was a bit of a badass. So what I would like to know is…where is that guy now? Because, um, he wasn’t there in the first episode back and he sure as hell wasn’t there in this episode so where is he? I get that he has ideological issues with taking out Walkers and yes, he did discover that his girlfriend had been fire roasted by some unknown assailant. But come on, seriously? Tyreese has gone to the top of my “Won’t make it out alive” list for the season.
For the first time in 4 seasons an episode of The Walking Dead scared me or rather the first few moments of the episode had me on edge. And it was all thanks to a zombified Harry Potter look-a-like. Who woulda thunk it? Not me, that’s for sure.

I’m guessing Tyreese losing Karen will turn him into the badass we knew from the comics. I actually love how no nonsense Carol has become. She really is one of my favorites.
