Don’t miss the series premiere of Reign this Thursday, October 17th at 9/8pm!

Reign is the story of teenage Mary, Queen of Scots. Starring Adelaide Kane as Queen Mary, Toby Regbo as Prince Francis, and Torrance Coombs as Sebastian, Francis’ half-brother, Reign has everything the CW loves in their dramas: intrigue, a mix of genuinely good and wildly devious characters,  love triangles, foreign accents, and – naturally – a gorgeous cast. Initially, I was concerned about the show’s placement on the CW’s lineup, but now I can certainly understand why it was slotted after The Vampire Diaries. This show has everything Vampire Diaries has – without the vampires, of course – with the feel of Gossip Girl, if Gossip Girl was set in the 16th century. I think most Vampire Diaries fans will be satisfied with this new drama, and we recommend you give it a shot. Don’t miss the series premiere of Reign, this Thursday, October 17, at 9/8pm CST.

Synopsis:

DANGER AND INTRIGUE LURK AROUND EVERY DARK CASTLE CORNER IN THIS STORY OF A YOUNG MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS – After spending a childhood safely hidden away in a monastery, a teenage Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane) arrives in France where she has been sent to secure Scotland’s strategic alliance by formalizing her arranged engagement to the French King’s dashing son, Prince Francis (Toby Regbo). Further complicating things is Bash (Torrance Coombs), Francis’ handsome, roguish half-brother and Francis’ mother, Queen Catherine (Megan Follows). When the strong-willed Queen learns of a prophecy that marriage to Mary will cost Francis his life, she is determined to save her son, no matter how many others have to pay with their lives. Brad Silberling directed the episode written by Laurie McCarthy and Stephanie SenGupta.
