Cameron Monaghan in talks to join ‘The Giver’

Brace your Gallavich fans because one half of your favorite duo is in talks to join, already officially announced, Academy Award winner Meryl Streep in the movie adaption of The Giver.  Also in talks to join the movie based on the children’s novel written by Lois Lowry is True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard.  If all goes to plan Streep, Skarsgard and Cameron Monaghan will join Jeff Bridges as the Giver and Brenton Thwaites as Jonas.

According to Deadline The Giver is expected to begin filming in eight weeks in South Africa. The film is being co-produced by The Weinstein Company and Walden Media. It will be directed by Phil Noyce.

What this means for Cameron’s role as Ian Gallagher on the Showtime drama Shameless is not yet known. Filming on the fourth season is set to begin sometime in September. Although it is possible for Monaghan to have a substantial role in the upcoming season, it does seem likely that he could be missing from the first few episodes.
