Interview with the Artist of the Week: IP5
IP5 or Isaiah Pittman V, is quickly making his way through the industry. He is only 14 years old, but by the age of 5 had already performed for President Obama and is currently working on his new album with producer Nate Butler. Check out our interview with him below, and to see his full featured article click here.
What kind of music do you listen to?
“I like r&b, pop and a few songs from the past too. I listen to a lot just to help better myself and copy their styles.”
Do you have a preference between dancing and singing, or do you like both equally?
“I actually like doing them both at the same time, just because it’s easier to practice them that way.”
What was it like performing infront of President Obama?
“The first time I preformed for him was at CNBC in Chicago. It was a really great experience because I was five years old. I actually sang for him recently too and that was a really fun experience because I can tell he really enjoyed it.”
What’s your favorite part of making a music video?
“I think most likely it would be the cast back stage or behind the scenes. We just have a lot of fun and play around. I also like the actual filming aspect of it. Filming the scenes and everything else involved with it is really fun too.”
Would you ever want to do something else with your talents like, theater or be in a dance crew?
“Not really. I always just wanted to sing and dance and make my own path.”
If you could perform anywhere in Chicago, where would you?
“Millenium Park. I actually did perform there once, but there were not many people there, but it was still very fun.”
Who is the coolest person you have worked with so far?
“That would be Nate Butler and Angela Elgani. Nate is a producer who just recently produced my new tracks. We are still working with him to make an upcoming album. Angela Elgani did the choreography for the new songs that we made.”
What is the hardest part about being so young in the industry?
“I don’t know if there really is a hard part. It’s just learning how everything works and meeting new people.”
Do you have a favorite TV show or movie?
“My favorite TV show is probably ‘Supernatural’ or ‘Heroes’. Favorite movie would be The Avengers. I think it’s just one of the best movies ever.”
If you could work with anybody that you haven’t yet, who would you work with?
“Justin Bieber. I love the way he performs and his stage presence and how he mingles with the crowd while he is performing.”
