Life After Liftoff, a four piece band from Ohio, has struck gold with their new EP “Brand New Life“. This intense and lyrically sound three song EP has something for everyone.
The first song on the album, The Getaway, is a home run. All the instruments fit together perfectly and create a song that you don’t want to turn off. You’ll be on your feet again with this one, or rocking out in your car, or blasting it through your house while you clean, or singing it in the shower. Truthfully it doesn’t matter what you’re doing, you’ll want to be listening to it.
The second song on the EP, Brand New Life, features beautiful work on the keys and even more beautiful lyrics. This song starts off slower and more ballad-esque, but by the second verse the guitar riffs and drum beats will have you dancing. This is the kind of song that makes you stop and think, the one that you have to listen to over and over again to take in the full meaning of the words.
“Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? And that one idea can change everything?” Atmosphere, the third and final song on the EP begins with 30 seconds of haunting narration from lead singer Lee Weiss. As the narration comes to an end, guitar picks up in the background, the kick drum is added, and the epic crescendo that results is impossible to ignore. You’ll be hooked for the rest of the song. This intense build up in the song gave me some serious Mariana’s Trench vibes. Specifically I was reminded of the song, “Masterpiece Theater III”.
This EP is a must have for fans of All Time Low, My Favorite Highway, Blink 182, or anyone who this looking for some good music.
