Authors of HRC Wish Their Moms a Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day mama! – Alie Wilkins

Happy Mothers Day mama! I couldn’t figure out what to get you, so I hope this works. Remember those corny acrostic poems that they made us do in elementary school that really shouldn’t count as poems? I’m revisiting my childhood for this.
Barb
B- Brave. Ready to tackle any situation no matter how scary or risky it might be. More importantly, ready to face any monster, bad guy, heart-breaker, or bully that threatens her family.
A- Aerodynamic. Websters defines aerodynamic as, “Of or having a shape that reduces the drag from air moving past.” Able to smooth out wrinkles with a few words and fix problems with a couple compromises, she reduces the drag in life everyday.
R- Rich. Not rich meaning that she has a lot of money or fancy things. She’s empathetic, sincere, loving, kind, funny, intelligent. If personality traits were all worth a million dollars, she would be one of the richest people ever.
B- Best. She is the best mom anybody could ask for. I know that’s what everyone says about their mom onmothers day, but I really believe that I have the greatest mother. Willing to buy concert tickets without knowing when she’ll get paid back, willing to help with problems  the second she walks in the door even though she’s had a million problems of her own, making breakfast on test days, suffering through her allergies just so her kids can have pets, always making sure everyone gets the same amount of Christmas presents. There are a million other tiny things that go unnoticed everyday that make her the best, but I don’t have the attention span, or the time, or the resources to write them all down.
To quote a Taylor Swift song, “I love you for giving me your eyes, for staying back and watching me shine. I didn’t know if you knew so I’m taking this chance to say that I’ve had the best days with you.”

Wishing A Happy Mother’s Day To The Strongest

Woman In My Life – Alex Burlett

Without my mother, I would not be the woman I am today. There is nothing I can say that could even come close to what I feel I should say about this extraordinary woman. These past three years have been the hardest and I couldn’t have made it through without her. We have overcome every obstacle -no matter how large or how small- together. In 2005 my mother was diagnosed with Lupus. At the time, none of us knew how to handle the news. We didn’t understand much about this new obstacle in our lives, but we did our best to learn. Now, seven years later, she is still fighting. Fighting the pain she feels every day. Fighting the fatigue that falls upon her body. Fighting to make all of our lives better, no matter what. My mother is fighting and she is not giving up. My mother is my hero. Nothing in this world could compare to a mother’s love, and I didn’t find this out until I had a son of my own.

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice; once for herself and once for her children”

If I had to describe my mother in one word, that word would be STRONG. She’s had the strength to carry herself, plus her family through the hardest parts of our lives. She has the strength to protect her family at all cost. She has the strength to get out of bed and go to work everyday, and she always has the strength to kiss us and let us know that she loves us. A mother is someone you can always depend on, no matter what. A mother understands the things that are important to her children, and tries to make their dreams come true. A mother can always tell if something is burdening her children because when it’s burdening the child, it’s burdening their mother too. A mother feels what her children feel, cries when her children cry, and laughs when her children tell her awful jokes over and over again. My mother is this mother. My mother is my strength. Happy Mothers Day Mom. I love you more than you could ever know.

Happy Mother’s Day Mama Brown – Katy Brown

Mama Brown (Karen) is one in a million. She not only works full time but is home every night to make dinner and hang out with her family. She works her butt off so that my brother Donny and I can have incredible lives. She works long hours for the YMCA but still has time to be with her family for any occasion! She takes time out of her day to have a quick block day lunch with me, or to spend time Facebook chatting (or even a real phone call) with Donny. In addition to being a super hard worker, she is one of the kindest people ever! She works for a non-profit focused on helping kids in the community have better lives. Mama Brown is more focused on others than herself, often forgetting that she needs a break sometimes. She deserves to go out and take a day for herself. Go get her nails done, get a massage, or just shop ‘til the world ends! I admire everything about her! I want her to know that she is the best mom a girl could ask for! I owe the world to her! Happy Mother’s Day Mama Brown! It’s been a great 17 years being your daughter, and I look forward to having many, many more! I love you Mama Brown!

Happy Mother’s Day – Ariel Walborn

I’d just like to take this time to give my mom a huge THANK YOU. I know I don’t tell you thank you enough, and I am really sorry about that. I promise I will work harder on that from now on. You have helped me so much all throughout my life. You always encourage me and are always there for me whenever I need you. Even when I am reluctant to take your help or advice you are still there, and I am so grateful for that. I may not go to you for help as often as I should, but just knowing that you are always there for me no matter what is a huge comfort to me. You taught me to follow my heart and my dreams, and that is one of the main reasons why I am where I am today. I love you mom! Happy Mother’s Day!
