Swedish Sensation Sabaton to Tour US This Fall

Swedish rock has made a huge splash this year, with bands like Despite and Ghost dropping new albums and tours in 2016. Now the US is going to host rock heroes Sabaton as they launch their “Silence in the Snow” tour with Trivium and special guest, Huntress. The band will be supporting their August release of their album “The Last Stand,” which is currently number 2 on the Billboard Hard Music chart, as well as the #5 position on the Billboard Top Rock album chart, #4 on the Billboard Independent albums chart, and #19 on the Billboard Top Current Albums chart. The album was released via Nuclear Blast.

New guitarist Tommy Johansson creatively grinds out dramatic melodies as the band presents epic songs about various events throughout world history, including “Sparta,” “Blood of Blackburn,” and “Shiroyama.” The band, which formed in 1999, is best known for singing almost exclusively about historical wars and battles, a direction the band members decided to take after watching the 1999 Academy Award-winning film Saving Private Ryan. The band thoroughly researches their topics to make sure the songs paint accurate and objective portraits of the events they sing about. Sabaton has reached their position as heavy metal’s historians after releasing ingenious studio recordings and playing an endless amount of unforgettable live shows across the globe. “The Last Stand” is an ‘unquestionable and bulletproof’ musical evidence of the band’s top class abilities and “Silence in the Snow” will be their most gigantic world tour to date.

Hello, my name is Arlene Allen, and I love all things nerd: genre tv and movies, books, loud rock and roll music, kittens, conventions, books, graphic novels and superheroes, RPG and tabletop games, and did I say books? Oh, yes. I spent 25 years as a librarian (nerd) mainly working with youth (creating nerds), a number of years as a teacher (more nerd indoctrination). I have my own spawn, leveled up to 22 and my partner in nerdiness. As a nerdy writer, I have found a home at Talk Nerdy With Us.
