Pinelands Music Festival Returns Columbus Day Weekend

On Monday, Pinelands Music Festival was excited to announce their second annual day-long sound-infused event. Scheduled to occur over Columbus Day weekend on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds (3001 Carmel Rd. Millville, NJ 08332) in Millville, New Jersey the event boasts highlights unique to its setting and geography. Located amidst a beautiful forested region, Pinelands Music Festival differs from other festivals of its size primarily in its aesthetics. Tucked into the remote Pine Barrens of New Jersey, the forest breaks open to reveal an outstanding venue with plenty of amenities, making it the perfect location for a music festival. It offers a “destination festival” feel, an oasis of natural beauty, while remaining in close proximity to some of the biggest cities in the US. The festival is conveniently located 45 minutes from both Philadelphia and Atlantic City, and just under 3 hours from NYC, Washington D.C., and Baltimore. As an added bonus, a majority of the 2016 lineup calls NJ and the surrounding areas home, offering up nostalgia and hometown pride. Tickets for the festival went on sale Monday, August 15th at 12pm EST and can be purchased at www.PinelandsMusicFest.com.

Pinelands Music Festival will showcase 25 bands and take place across two stages. The main stage is the “Pinelands Stage” and will feature heavy-hitters such as Hawthorne Heights, Hidden in Plain View, and a special and much-anticipated reunion by Don’t Look Down. This is the band’s first show since breaking up 11 years ago. The pop-punk quartet is thrilled to come together again at this year’s festival and recently unveiled a brand new song to celebrate entitled “No Way Out.” The local stage will be called the “Grandaire Stage,” and is sponsored by local booking/promotional company, Grandaire Booking. This stage will feature 15 of the most up and coming bands from the South NJ area including Your Persona, Brock Landers, and more. The other confirmed 2016 headliners include: Hawthorne Heights, Hidden In Plain View, Don’t Look Down, ’68, CRUISR, Prawn, Head North, Young English, Owel, Pines, Sleep In, Breaking Tradition, Hot Gospel, Rich People, Better Machines, Good Look, Sigourney, Kid Felix, Cloakz, My Life on Film, Old City Revival,Vacation School, and Kin Mondo.

This year, festival organizer Nick DeLouise has added a few new elements to spice things up, literally. Combining a love for all things local, DeLouise welcomes nearly a dozen local food trucks and restaurants to provide one of a kind menus and treats for all attending including:

Chickie & Pete’s a large NJ/PA based sports bar/restaurant famously known for their Crab Fries.
Baby Blues BBQ is family owned and have famously been featured on The Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” as well as “Guy’s Grocery Games” and the Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise” – ribs paradise edition.” Wahlburgers – They are made famous from their TV series on A&E and is owned and operated by actor Mark Wahlburg’s family.

Thirsty attendees will be able to enjoy Miller Lite, Leinenkugel, Smith & Forge Cider, and Glasstown Brewery, all available on site. To round things out, this year’s festival will also include a record store where fans are encouraged to listen to some of the local acts and buy their music to promote the local scene.

As the festival organizer, DeLouise had this to say about the lineup:

One of the most exciting parts of Pinelands is the blend between nostalgia and present. The festival will feature some of our favorite early 2000’s heavy hitters, mixed with the region’s most up and coming artists. Reunions are a big part of this fest and to be able to host Don’t Look Downs’ first performance since their breakup 11 years ago. Growing up in NJ as a teenager and watching our hometown heroes Don’t Look Down grow from playing VFW halls to later go on and tour the world alongside some of the biggest names in music was an amazing thing to witness. Beyond that, we truly have an astounding lineup of the area’s most promising musicians.

Oh, yes. I spent 25 years as a librarian (nerd) mainly working with youth (creating nerds), a number of years as a teacher (more nerd indoctrination). I have my own spawn, leveled up to 22 and my partner in nerdiness. As a nerdy writer, I have found a home at Talk Nerdy With Us.
