Freeform Revamps Reality TV This Fall

1Coming this Fall, Freeform is bringing audiences two new reality shows to its programming slate. The network announced on Monday, Aug. 14 that “Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?” and “The Letter” will premiere on October 11, 2016.

Viewers fell in love with Ben Higgins and his now fiancée Lauren Bushnell during season 20 of “The Bachelor” – but what happens after the final rose is handed out? The series will follow the couple as they prepare to say “I Do” and begin their life together, saying goodbye to the exotic dates and fantasy suites of “The Bachelor.”

Lauren told PEOPLE that the new series will show viewers how well the couple has adjusted. “I’m excited for people to see how normal Ben and I are,” she says. “We went from romantic dates and plane rides and hot tubs to sitting on the couch ordering in!” Bushnell added that she’s only grown to love Ben Higgins more.

During the show, fan favorites from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” will stop by to visit and share their own advice on life after the show. The show will premiere on Tuesday, October 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT).

“Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?” will be produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.  Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Jason Ehrlich will serve as the executive producers. Jack Mori is co-executive producer.

“The Letter” is a bold, new relationship show that takes honesty to a new level. It asks a simple question: “If you could anonymously tell your best friend in a letter the things that he or she really needed to hear, would you do it?”

In each one-hour, stand-alone episode, four best friends draw names and anonymously write a letter to the selected person. The letter will outline their honest opinion of what needs to be changed in order to improve and transform their friend’s life for the better. For one week, the recipient must follow all the rules and instructions outlined in the letter – culminating in a dramatic and emotionally charged meeting where the authors of each letter reveal themselves to their best friends.

The series is narrated by Zelda Williams (“Dead of Summer”). The show will premiere immediately following “Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?” (9:00-10:00 p.m. EDT).

“The Letter” is produced by Sirens Media, part of Leftfield Entertainment, an ITV America company. Executive producers for Sirens Media are Rebecca Toth Diefenbach, Valerie Haselton, Lucilla D’Agostino, Jack Mori and Arthur Borman. Zelda Williams serves as producer.
